Before inspection
A short checklist that saves you money
To help us complete your electrical inspection efficiently and avoid return visits, please ensure the following before inspection.

Make sure the property has power
Either through Eskom supply or a prepaid meter, so the installation can be energised and tested.

Keep all electrical components accessible
This includes distribution boards, lights, plug points, and geysers.

Provide access to every area
Such as the garage, roof space, and any outbuildings.

Check every light fitting has a working bulb
At least one working bulb per fitting, so we can test it properly.

Tell us about hidden electrical points
For example plugs or distribution boards inside cupboards.

Remove items not included in the sale
Do this before the inspection takes place.

Have existing certificates ready
Any existing Certificates of Compliance should be available for our inspector.
Please remember: just because something works doesn't mean it's compliant.

ECA(SA) membership matters
ECA(SA) members are backed by guaranteed workmanship, giving you added peace of mind.
We report on what we find
Our role is to inspect, test, and report. We cannot take responsibility for previous work done on the property.
New work needs a new certificate
Any electrical work completed after a CoC is issued will require a new certificate.
Repairs can surface further faults
For example, nuisance tripping may occur once earth leakage protection is correctly installed.
Solar and generators are separate
If your property includes a solar or generator system, a separate test report must accompany the CoC.
